2019 - 2020 Payment and Cancellation Policy
Please contact me for rates and availability.
Tuition will be billed in four installments of 9 lessons each. Invoices will be sent in Sept, November, January and March.
Late Payment Fee
A $15 fee will be charged for late payments.
What your tuition covers:
In addition to the private lesson time, tuition covers my time for individualized lesson planning: thoughtful selection of repertoire to best express each student’s abilities and goals, strategies for addressing technical issues specific to individual students’ challenges, goal setting and monitoring, research and planning for competitions/auditions/recitals; photocopies of solo pieces, etudes, and scales exercises; frequent communication with parents and students; instrument and equipment upgrade consultation; my time at recitals for pre-recital rehearsals and performances. There will be an additional small fee for the recital to help cover the cost of renting the venue and hiring the accompanist.
Cancellation, Rescheduling and Makeup Policy
Your tuition reserves a weekly time slot specifically for you. If you cancel your lesson, I am not able to re-book that time slot and it becomes lost time and income for me. I will allow for 2 make-up or rescheduled lessons per school year with the following guidelines: If you cannot make your lesson time and notify me by 9:00am the day of the lesson, I will make-up or reschedule up to 2 lessons per school year. Any further requests to make-up or reschedule a lesson beyond the allowed 2 will be honored at my discretion. Cancellations or requests to reschedule made after 9:00am the day of the lesson, and missed lessons with no advance notice are not eligible for a make-up or to be rescheduled and you will not receive a refund. No refunds will be given for any cancelled lessons.
*A request to reschedule a lesson is the same thing as cancelling the lesson.*
Skype Lessons: Skype lessons work well and are available if you cannot make your lesson time because of inclement weather, slight illness (you are contagious, but still able to play clarinet), or a transportation problem. I expect you to be on time, set up and ready to begin at the scheduled Skype lesson time. A Skype lesson will count as a regular lesson and will not count towards one of the allowed 2 makeup/rescheduled lessons if it is during your regular lesson time.
Exceptions to my Cancellation, Rescheduling and Makeup Policy
Any lessons that I cancel will be made up or refunded.
Additional make-up lessons will be given for:
-Hazardous driving conditions due to inclement weather – if you are not able to do a Skype lesson.
-Students attending private schools with vacation weeks different from the public school calendar.
-Band/Orchestra concerts - please let me know well in advance as these concerts are scheduled in the beginning of the school year.
Students who enjoy the greatest success in playing their instrument are those who maintain a regular practice schedule. I recommend that beginning and intermediate students practice 30 minutes/day, 5 days/week. Advanced students will need to allow for more practice time. Parental support is essential. I have written several articles on practicing which are available on my website www.elizabethleehey.com.
When you are dropping off your child for his/her lesson, please do not leave the driveway until you see that your child is safely inside of the house. Please do not arrive earlier than 5 minutes before your scheduled lesson time, and be sure to pick up your child on time. Lessons are scheduled consecutively and I cannot be responsible for your child when I am teaching another student.
My teaching studio is in my private residence and the door will be locked during lessons. Please ring the bell when you arrive.
Parents are welcome to wait in my waiting room during lessons.
Parents of new students are required to be present for at least the first few lessons.
I encourage all parents to attend at least one lesson per semester.
Photos of students may be posted on my website or Facebook page for promotional purposes and congratulatory announcements for student accomplishments. Identifying information will be excluded, or limited to first names only. If you do not want your child’s image used, please let me know.
